Biographical Sketch 
Vladimir G. Fast received M.S. degree in physics in 1983 and Ph.D. degree in biological physics in 1986, both from the Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology, Russia. After graduation, he was with the Institute of Biological Physics in Pushchino, Russia, and then with the Department of Physiology, University of Berne, Switzerland. He joined the UAB faculty in 1997.
