Biographical Sketch 
Dr. Zhou received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 2006. He then completed the postdoctoral training in Professor the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine prior to joining UAB as a faculty member in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Disease in 2011. Dr. Zhou earned his MS in 2000 and BS in 1997, both from Tianjin University.

Research/Clinical Interest
Mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress in human disease
Dr. Zhou's research interests are in the area of pathophysiology and therapeutics of oxidative stress related to diseases of mitochondrial origin as it pertains to human diseases (such as cardiovascular disease, cancer and diabetes).
