Prerequisites
Successful completion of the core internal medicine, peds and surgery clerkships and any clerkship which covers the content material of the requested elective or acting internship course (e.g. Pediatric Clerkship must be successfully completed prior to taking a Pediatric Elective or AI).

Course Description
In this rotation, the student will participate in the assessment and management of renal disease, hypertension, and problems in fluid and electrolytes in infants, children, and adolescents. The rotation will involve the student with inpatients on the Children's Hospital nephrology service, dialysis patients in the Children's Hospital Renal Care Unit, and outpatients in the Children's Hospital pediatric nephrology clinics. The student may also be involved with patients on the renal transplant service and patients receiving renal replacement therapy (dialysis, hemodiafiltration or CVVHDF). Emphasis will be placed on having the student become conversant with the management of fluids and electrolytes in infants, children and adolescents.

Requirements
Attendance at Nephrology Clinical Conference, Renal Biopsy Conference, outpatient renal clinic, and daily rounds with renal team.
Evaluation
A subjective report will be rendered by the preceptor at the completion of the course.
