Prerequisites
Successful completion of the core internal medicine, peds and surgery clerkships and any clerkship which covers the content material of the requested elective or acting internship course (e.g. Pediatric Clerkship must be successfully completed prior to taking a Pediatric Elective or AI).
Specific Clerkship Prerequisites: Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Family Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Psychiatry

Course Description
This course will provide opportunities for the student to participate in the investigation, diagnosis, and management of patients on the Pediatric Inpatient General pediatric inpatient service at Children's Hospital. The student will participate on rounds with the pediatric inpatient service team on all pediatirc inpatient inservice inpatients, assume responsibility for the investigation of interesting diagnostic problems, and perform whatever diagnostic procedures are necessary. The student will be under the direct supervision of a full-time faculty member, with consultation and supervision being given by appropriate members of the faculty on subspecialty patients. This course is recommended for the student who is interested in any of the following: Pediatrics, Family Medicine, and Surgery. Specific areas can be flexible - depending on experience and interest of the student. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based upon the attending physician's interview with the student and observations of the student's performance.
Where To Report
Children's Hospital, Children's Harbor Bldg, 4th Floor, Bradley Lecture Center. Orientation at 7:30am on the first day of the
rotation. The course director will meet you for orientation.
Requirements
The student will perform complete History and physical examinations on all patients to which they are assigned. They will determine the appropriate diagnostic tests and plan initial management under the supervision of a senior resident. The student will have four days off durin gthe month that exclude call days. Attendance at Morning Report, noon conference and Pediatric grand Rounds is required.
Evaluation
Pass/Fail, based on the subjective evaluation of the resident and attending physician.
