Course Description
The Division of Endocrinology is a four faculty members provide treatment for children with diseases of the endocrine system. These include growth problems, deficiencies or excesses of hormones from the pituitary, thyroid, adrenal glands, and the pancreas. A major component of the clinical effort is devoted to the management of both juvenile (Type I) and Type II diabetes. Additional disorders which are managed by the Division include metabolic bone disease and inborn errors of metabolism which disturb glucose metabolism. Research interests are broad and involve both clinical and laboratory-based investigations. Research topics include growth and pubertal disorders, treatment of diabetes, fat cell hormone and peptide production and regulation, and the molecular basis of obesity.

Requirements
The student is expected to work on the service Monday through Friday. There is no required night call or weekend rounding. Students are expected to work in the clinic and inpatient consults.
