Biographical Sketch 
Allen Bryan, a native of Columbus, MS, holds a bachelor's in physics (Mississippi State, 2000) and doctorates in medicine (Harvard, 2012) and bioinformatics (MEMP program, MIT, 2009). For his PhD, Dr. Bryan studied under Bonnie Berger, MIT Department of Mathematics and Computer Science-Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), and Susan Lindquist of the MIT Biology Department and the Whitehead Institute.

He completed his residency in clinical pathology and fellowship in medical microbiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA, in 2015. In July of that same year, Dr. Bryan was board certified in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology, and in December, he joined the University of Alabama-Birmingham as Instructor in the Department of Pathology.

Title
INFECTALYTICS: Quality improvement of laboratory medicine through graph-network analysis & visualization
Description
My primary research interest at present is the improvement of clinical informatics interfaces, particularly analysis and reporting of laboratory data. I am interested in developing incremental improvements to feedback and reporting in a clinical environment with close collaboration between development and active clinicians. INFECTALYTICS, our first major project, utilizes de-identified and warehoused clinical data to identify quality gaps in laboratory practice and utilization. By using graph-network analysis, Bayesian statistics, and data visualizations, quality improvement projects can be identified and tailored to target specific practices. The goal of our software is to advance quality improvement and effectiveness by further encouraging communications between laboratory personnel, clinicians, researchers, and patients.
