Dr. Di Stasi received his M.D. degree from the University of Modena in Italy. He did his internal medicine and medical oncology training at the university of Milan, in Italy, where he trained in particular in the management of hematologic malignancies and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Following his fellowship he joined the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy (Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX) for post-doctoral studies, where he completed the pre-clinical validation of an immunotherapy protocol for the treatment of relapsed Hodgkin lymphoma, and the clinical validation of a novel suicide gene safety switch for graft-versus-host-disease occuring after donor lymphocyte infusion. Afterwards, he underwent ECFMG certification and moved to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for Bone Marrow Transplantation fellowship and clinical research, especially regarding myelodisplastic syndromes, acute myeloid leukemia, and haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
His work has been published in high-impact journals such as Blood, and The New England Journal of Medicine. In addition, he has authored four book chapters and has lectured in the US and Europe. |
