Title |
Mammary gland biology and neoplaisa |
Description |
Although my research interests have been in the area of mammary gland biology and cancer I have been the Genomics Core director since 2005 and have primarily been focused on service to the research community. The Genomics Core provides DNA sequencing, SNP genotyping, DNA fingerprinting, microarray and Next-Generation sequencing services on a fee for service basis. The core is completely supported by chargebacks to investigators.
In addition to the Core my research interests include how the mammary ductal tree progresses through the mammary fat pad in a structured and ordered way. We're beginning to focus on the Slit/Robo pathway, which is responsible for directional growth of axons in the brain. Specifically, we have cloned a GAP (GTPase Activating Protein) from hormonally induced mammary tumors, srGAP3, and are beginning to investigate it's role in epithelial cell migration through the mammary fat pad. |
