Biographical Sketch 
I am Professor and Co-Section Head, Section of Advanced Heart Failure, Heart Transplantation, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Pulmonary Hypertension at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). I am the immediate Past Chair of the Heart Failure and Transplant Medicine of the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation. My academic interests are management of patients with advanced heart failure, from new therapies and devices to mechanical support and transplantation. In addition to keep a busy clinical service, I have successfully collaborated on numerous research projects with many different national and international investigators resulting in many peer-reviewed publications. I have been involved in the training of medicine residents and cardiology and pulmonary fellows in the area of heart failure and transplantation and pulmonary hypertension for over 14 years.
