I am an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care at Children’s of Alabama / The University of Alabama at Birmingham. My research interests include utilizing simulation and situational awareness development to improve bedside care, reduce harm, and improve patient outcome. I am also strongly interested in using simulation to improve procedural competencies, particularly for pediatric trainees. My clinical time is spent as a Pediatric Intensivist in the PICU, and I am passionate about improving interdisciplinary communication and using simulation as a tool to improve team work and room ergonomics in resuscitation. My non-clinical time is spent as an Assistant Medical Director in the Children’s of Alabama Pediatric Simulation Center, focusing on procedural practices and rapid cycle deliberate practice to improve the care of critically ill children. |
