Biographical Sketch
André was trained in Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Dortmund, Germany. Following his PhD in Computer Science, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, The University of Queensland, Australia, and ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Between Switzerland and joining UAB, he was a senior research fellow and contracted scientist in Japan. For over 10 years, André has been working in computational and systems biology. His recent research interests include biomedical informatics and computational medicine.

Research/Clinical Interest
Current projects (selection): Rational design of protein mutants; Prediction of protein attributes using machine learning approaches; Understanding the dynamics of receptors and other membrane-bound proteins (e.g. Ras) and their impact on signaling using mathematical modeling.
