Title
Description
NIH/NCI funded studies of Dr. Piyathilake focus on the gene-gene, gene-nutrient and gene-environment interactions and their impact on the development and prognosis of cancers of the lung, oral cavity and cervix. The collaborators of these studies are from the departments of Nutrition Sciences, Pathology, Epidemiology and International Health, Ob/Gyn, Surgery, UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Arizona Cancer Center. The Molecular Epidemiology Laboratory of Dr. Piyathilake provides services for a battery of vitamin assays, genetic polymorphisms and DNA methylation.
