Course Description
Advanced laboratory work and reading assignments in various areas of microbiology are offered to students in the third and fourth year as an elective. Although the course may be elected for as little as one month, involving primarily literature research, it is desirable that a student take a three month elective so that the student can become involved in some research projects within the microbiology laboratories. These opportunities are designed for students who wish to expand their base of information in immunochemistry, immunobiology, molecular virology, microbial genetics, microbial physiology and gene regulation and pathogenic process involving microbes. The student should arrange the time for taking this course with the individual instructor with whom the student wishes to work prior to consulting the Department Chairman.
Where To Report
Student will be contacted in advance with a report location.
Requirements
Permission of the faculty preceptor and the Microbiology Department Chairman
Evaluation
The grade will be determined by the faculty preceptor based on direct observation of the student's performance in the laboratory and in reading and oral presentations.
