Course Description
The student will assume the role of acting intern in the Northport Hospitalist service (Northport Medical Center) and will be assigned patients in limited numbers for whom the student will be responsible. The responsibility will include history and physical examination, and the planning and carrying out of diagnostic and therapeutic plans. This experience will help the student to prepare for the role of an intern to be assumed after graduation. The student will be under the direct supervision of full-time and part-time University faculty. The student will also have the opportunity to participate in daily conferences, Grand Rounds, Neurology rounds, etc. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based on the attending physician's interview with the student and observations of the student's performance.
