Course Description
Students will have a one-week experience in the Department of Surgery: Division of Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Techniques. The division treats a full spectrum of vascular disorders, with all forms of modern endovascular procedures and open surgical techniques. The division also has an outpatient vein clinic, which provides comprehensive evaluation and specialized treatment for vein disorders. The student(s) work with and are supervised by a board-certified vascular surgeon and the student(s) will also work in close conjunction with the vascular surgery residents. This experience includes attending rounds, observing/assisting in surgical cases and observing in the outpatient vein clinic, and assisting in ankle-brachial index tests and ultrasounds within the clinic. Students should arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the start time and check-in/communicate with the supervising physician. The student(s) will wear appropriate attire based upon the activities of the day. PLEASE CONTACT SHERRY EVANS AT LEAST 1-WEEK PRIOR TO START OF COURSE FOR BADGE ACCESS. YOU WILL NEED BADGE ACCESS INTO BOSHELL DIABETES BUILDING.
