Course Description
This elective course will offer opportunities for the student interested in Pathology as a career to prepare for residency by completing modules designed for professional development including topics of feedback, teamwork, inclusion, diversity promotion, and well-being. Additionally, modules designed to introduce the student to important Laboratory Management topics for the Pathologist. Activities utilizing root cause analysis, quality improvement, and patient safety will be competed during this course. Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity, the student will better understand concepts and skills of professionalism as a healthcare provider. The student will be better prepared for Pathology Residency by having a breadth of experiences specific to Pathology and Laboratory Management.

Requirements
Enrollment in this course is by permission only. The course is part of the Pathology Integrated Residency, but students outside of the program may be accepted.
Evaluation
Pass/Fail. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis utilizing input from the faculty and residents that the student worked with. Timely completion of assigned activities will also be utilized to evaluate the student.
Notes
General schedule of planned activities:
During the 4 week course, 2 weeks will be spent completing modules on professionalism as designed by the course director. The second 2 weeks will be spent completing modules on Laboratory Management as designed by the course director. Additional experiences in the Hospital Laboratory setting will be offered during the final 2 weeks of the course in order to allow the student to grow in technical knowledge of histology, microbiology, and laboratory testing.
