Prerequisites Successful completion of the core internal medicine and surgery clerkships and any clerkship which covers the content material of the requested elective or acting internship course (e.g. Pediatric Clerkship must be successfully completed prior to taking a Pediatric Elective or AI).

Course Description This course provides an opportunity for the student to participate in the investigation, diagnosis, and management of patients on the pediatric inpatient service at DCH Regional Medical Center and the Ambulatory Pediatric Clinic at Capstone Medical Center. Activities expected of the student include participating on rounds with the inpatient team on all ward patients, assuming responsibility for performing complete history and physicals, developing differential diagnosis, devising appropriate treatment plans for patients the student admits, and presenting the plans on rounds. The student will also perform any diagnostic procedures that are necessary. The student will be under the direct supervision of full-time faculty.
