Course Description
The student will assume the role of acting intern on the Hospitalist Service (DCH Regional Medical Center) and will be assigned patients in limited numbers for whom the student will be responsible. This responsibility will include history and physical examination and the planning and carrying out of diagnostic and therapeutic plans. Student will typically attend morning report and participate in didactics and workshops as available. This experience will help the student to prepare for the role of the intern to be assumed after graduation. The student will be under the direct supervision of UMC hospitalist faculty. The student will also have the opportunity to participate in daily conferences, Grand Rounds, Neurology rounds, etc. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based upon the attending physicians' interview with the student and observation of the student's performance. Learning Objective: This experience will help the student to prepare for the role of the intern to be assumed after graduation.
