Course Description
Students will: 1) Attend four didactic lectures on the anatomical and physiologic basis; and clinical applications of autonomic function testing. 2) Observe the performance and the interpretation of autonomic function testing on different varieties of patients suffering from central and peripheral autonomic nervous system disorders. Learning Objectives: At the end of the course, the student should be able to understand: 1) The physiologic bases of different autonomic tests. 2) The pathophysiology of common dysautonomias like neurogenic orthostatic hypotension, neutrally mediated syncope, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome.

Requirements
1) Attendance of 80% of lectures and teaching sessions; 2) reading of the following teaching material: a) Singer, W, Mauermann, M; and Benarroch, EE. Evaluation of autonomic disorders in Autonomic Neurology, Oxford and New York: Oxford Press, 2014, p: 49-70. B) Cases 18-22 in Sandroni, P and Low, AP. Autonomic Disorders: A cased based approach, Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 2015, p: 60-81.
Evaluation
Pass/Fail; based on attendance of lectures and teaching sessions at the autonomic function testing lab; achievement of learning objectives at the end of the elective.
