Course Description
The fourth year Family Medicine elective rotation is intended to enhance the experience of the student in the field of family medicine and promote interest in primary care. The student will have a comprehensive learning experience incorporating the biopsychosoci al model of family medicine. The structure of this rotation is different from the third year family medicine clerkship in a way that it parallels the experience of being a family medicine resident. During this rotation, the student works in close proximity with family medicine residents and faculty of the Montgomery Family Medicine Residency Program. The rotation is designed to provide the student with extensive hands-on experience in different settings including, but not limited to, office, hospital and nursing home. The student will be expected to do H&Ps,progress notes,office notes, discharge summaries and play an integral role in the management of patients. The rotation will promote the procedural skills of the student in outpatient and inpatient settings.

Requirements
The student will be expected to attend the daily morning hospital didactic session with the residents. Also, the student will attend the noon conference series comprised of didactics,M&M conferences, journal clubs and more. Weekend and night float calls are not required, but are optional. The student will be encouraged to work atleast one weekend day shift and one night float shift to acquire the first-hand experience of being a resident.
Evaluation
Pass/Fail; The senior residents and faculty physicians working with the student will fill out a written evaluation form and submit to the course director. The final grade for the rotation (Pass or Fail) will be assigned by the course director.
