Course Description The student will actively participate in the clinical laboratory, rotating through chemistry, microbiology, hematology, blood bank, special chemistry, phlebotomy, histology, cytology, and toxicology. The student will become familiar with gross and microscopic pathology including advanced techniques such as immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology. They will learn microscopic criteria for common diseases in surgical pathology. The student will understand the pathologist's role in disease diagnosis including communication skills with other clinicians regarding questions specific to pathology.

Evaluation Pass/Fail. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based upon the attending physician’s interview with the student and observations of the student’s performance.
