Course Description |
The purpose of this special topic is to instruct the MS3 or MS4 student in the management of emergency situations. The student will participate in the activities of the Emergency Department. It is expected that the student will begin to develop skills in taking a brief and rapid medical history, and in performing a pertinent physical examination; participate in the evaluation, management and treatment of various common problems seen in the ED of a large regional medical center. |

Requirements |
Student will be expected to ride one shift each with Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue and NorthStar EMS. One shift will occur during the day and one shift will cover the afternoon and evening hours. Student will be expected to complete three shifts, covering day and night time periods, in the DCH emergency department. |
