Course Description
The medical student will serve as a clinical clerk on the pediatric plastic surgery team under the direct supervision of the attending staff and the Chief of Plastic Surgery at The Children's Hospital. There will be some exposure to adult Plastic Surgery as well. The Division objective will be to provide the student with an exciting clinical environment to experience the genetic evaluation of pediatric surgical patient problems and participate first hand in the surgical care of the pediatric plastic surgical patient . Students should leave the rotation with a much fuller understanding of pediatric plastic surgery.

Requirements
Student responsibilities will include, but are not limited to evaluation and surgical planning in treatment of pediatric plastic surgery patients. Student participation in all aspects of onference, clinic, and surgery are expected. Students will round with faculty members or housestaff on a regular basis and their activities will be directly supervised in the operating room.
Evaluation
Performance based on participation - predicated on evident interest in the principles and techniques of the discipline of Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as judged by the attendings and housestaff. Any testing of acquired knowledge will be based on provided written materials and topics covered in conferences (Tuesday Afternoons 4-6 PM).
