Course Description
This rotation in child-adolescent psychiatry allows the student to learn about issues pertaining to the mental health and psychopathology of children and adolescents. During this rotation special emphasis is placed on developing a schema for the careful diagnostic evaluation of adolescents. Students ordinarily work in multiple areas of service delivery which include inpatient, outpatient, and day treatment settings. Objectives of the rotation are to (1) provide the student with an opportunity to learn about the common psychiatric problems in children and adolescents, (2) give the student an exposure to working with a multi-disciplinary treatment team, and (3) help the student understand appropriate biological, psychological, and social treatments for children with emotional/ behavioral problems.
