Biographical Sketch 
Lisa M. Schwiebert received a BS degree in Chemistry from Bates College in 1986 and a PhD in Biochemistry from Dartmouth College in 1993. After completing her postdoctoral training in Clinical Immunology at Johns Hopkins University, she was appointed as an instructor in the Department of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Schwiebert joined the faculty of the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at UAB in 1997 as an Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2003; she was promoted to Professor in 2013. In 2007, she was appointed Associate Dean for Postdoctoral Education.

Description
The main focus of the laboratory is to understand the physiologic mechanisms that underlie lung immunity through molecular, whole animal, and translational approaches.
