Biographical Sketch 
Jayleen Grams,MD,PhD joined UAB Gastrointestinal Surgery Division in 2009. She recieved her dual degree in the Medical Science Training Program of UAB. Dr. Grams recieved the John W. Kirklin Research and Education Fellowship Award in 2013-14. Her work and research has made her a sought after conference speaker. She presents internationally on research and surgical topics related to gastro-intestinal surgery and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Grams clinical projects seek to understand the factors that impact postoperative patient outcomes after bariatric surgery. Dr. Grams basic science projects investigate the biochemical and molecular basis of obesity associated medical problems, specifically Type 2 diabetes mellitus.
