Research/Clinical Interest
Title
Cellular vehicles for cancer therapy Design of adenoviral vectors with modified tropism
Description
My research interests are in developing a cell-based delivery of anticancer therapeutics to tumors. Specifically, mesenchymal stem/progenitor cells (MSCs) are exploited as carriers to deliver suicide/therapeutic/ genes as well as oncolytic viruses to tumors. MPS-based delivery of anti-cancer therapeutics to tumors capitalizes on interesting property of this cell population to home to the sites of tissue injury and tumors. Major efforts are concentrated on testing feasibility and efficacy of using these and other cell types as vehicles, investigating advantages of cell-based delivery of therapeutics and to increase an efficiency of cell- based delivery via influencing cell homing to tumors through engineered cell targeting. Other interests are in genetic modification of adenoviral vectors by constructing fiber-mosaic adenoviruses for expanding virus tropism or introducing novel properties to adenoviral particles
