Biographical Sketch 
Born and raised in Ohio, Dr. Hendershot received her undergraduate degree from Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. She then began her medical education at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio, graduating in 1999. Dr. Hendershot completed her surgical residency in general surgery at Georgetown University in Washington, DC in 2004. She then went on to complete fellowships in trauma and trauma research at Fairfax Hospital outside of Washington, DC in 2006 followed by a surgical critical care fellowship at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in 2007. Dr. Hendershot came to UAB from Wright State University where she was an Assistant Professor and the Associate Clerkship Director for surgery medical students. She is very interested in trauma and surgical education and has done research in both of these areas. She is involved in committees of the Eastern Association of the Surgery of Trauma (EAST) and the Association for Surgical Education (ASE).
