Course Description
48-403 - SURGICAL PATHOLOGY This elective offers the opportunity for daily participation in the study of diagnostic material received in the surgical pathology laboratory. Students directly participate in the evaluation of tissue specimens under the supervision of staff, fellows, and residents. Exposure to advanced diagnostic techniques and forzen sections is included in the rotation. The experience is intended to give the student an overview of diagnostic pathology and its role in clinico-pathologic correlation. Students are encouraged to attend intra- and inter-departmental conferences. Information regarding participation in this elective, as well as other subspecialty electives offered are available through Surgical Pathology. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based upon the attending physicians interview with the student and observations of the student's performance.
