Course Description This integrated elective course will offer opportunities for the student interested in Pathology as a career to prepare for residency by spending time in Surgical Pathology, Cytology, Autopsy, and other disciplines of Anatomic Pathology. Throughout the 4 week course, the student will grow in technical skills and diagnostic medical knowledge that are necessary for an entering student in Pathology. Students will directly participate in the preparation and evaluation of patient materials as well as the clinico-pathologic correlation necessary for understanding the consultative patient care role of Pathology. Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity, the student will better understand the patient care role of the Anatomic Pathologist. The student will be better prepared for Pathology Residency by having a breadth of experiences specific to Pathology.

Requirements Enrollment in this course is by permission only. The course is part of the Pathology Integrated Residency, but students outside of the program may be accepted. Students will be required to attend intradepartmental conferences in Anatomic Pathology.
Evaluation Pass/Fail. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis utilizing input from the faculty and residents that the student worked with.
Notes General schedule of planned activities:

During the 4 week course, 2 weeks will be spent in Surgical Pathology while the student rotates through each service. One week will be spent on Cytology. One week will be spent on Autopsy. If the student has particular interest in another Anatomic Pathology discipline, then that can be discussed and/or accommodated.
