Course Description EAB Clinic Skills is for students who wish to learn important clinical skills required for clinical clerkships while simultaneously serving the Birmingham community. Students will work in the clinic seeing patients with a physician, be trained in how to draw labs in clinic, and write SOAP notes on the patients they see in clinic. Student Learning Objectives: By the end of the course, students will be able to perform a thorough history and physical, create an assessment and plan for their patients, and write SOAP notes. Also, by working with the under-served in downtown Birmingham, students will gain a better understanding of other non-medial issues their patients may face.

Requirements To earn credit for the course, students must: 1) attend a required SOM orientation before the experience begins, 2) complete three written assignments over the course of the ST, 3) attend a debriefing meeting in the fall once classes resume, and 4) complete all clinical obligations as described by EAB student leadership.
Evaluation Pass/Fail; group assignment; written paper; class participation/attendance.
Notes $100 fee will in be included in your fall tuition for undefined extended enrollment over the summer.
