Course Description This mind-body medicine program will take students through a series of exercises used to promote overall well-being, stress management, empathy, self-awareness and self-care. Students will be introduced to mind-body skills and have the opportunity to practice and learn the theory behind these approaches, which include relaxation, meditation, guided imagery, biofeedback, art, music and movement. These methods are among the best known and most widely used of the complementary, alternative, and integrative approaches to healthcare. Learning Objective: Overall, students should learn to appreciate their capacity for self-awareness and self-care, things that are often neglected once they hit the demands and pace of the medical school curriculum. By learning the power of self-care, students can learn to balance the strain, stress and pressure due to the rigors of medical school and attempt to maintain a healthy personal and professional life. Co-enrolled elective courses offer 2 weeks elective credit each; a student may only receive a maximum of 4 weeks elective credit from co-enrolled courses. STUDENTS ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO BE ENROLLED IN ONE CO-ENROLLED COURSE AT A TIME.
