Course Description In the surgery longitudinal community clerkship, students develop a long-term relationship with preceptors who facilitate clinical learning experiences throughout the year. Students experience a longitudinal relationship with a patient panel and follow their patients from the primary care physician to the operating room. Students receive significant exposure to the basic principles in the management of surgical patients and will review basic anatomy and physiology. This year long immersion in surgical training gives students broad exposure to surgical experiences and allows for a continuity experience from diagnosis to surgery to recovery.
