Course Description During your MS-2 year you learned about basic study design and basic statistical principles. This course will teach you how to critically appraise each of the main types of studies and apply evidence to individual patients. This will be a self-directed blended course with mostly online components with some face to face sessions. Students will be required to read background materials and clinical research articles. The course will use multiple approaches to deeper learning: readings, reflections, group interactions, and a final project. This course can be taken for partial credit (in combination with the 2nd year EBM course) for MD-MPH students to satisfy the MPH degree requirements. Students should expect to spend 2-4 hours per week on course activities. Co-enrolled elective courses offer 2 weeks elective credit each; a student may only receive a max of 4 weeks elective credit from co-enrolled courses. STUDENTS ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO BE ENROLLED IN ONE CO-ENROLLED COURSE AT A TIME.
Where To Report Class meets virtually at a mutually agreed upon time.
Requirements This course is based on collaborative inquiry and knowledge construction so students must be active participants in the course. Ultimately, students have the primary responsibility for learning.
