Course Description The longitudinal internal medicine program has as its purpose the education of students and residents in the clinical process of investigating and managing illness in an individual over a sustain period of time. This process requires the ability to obtain a complete history; perform a complete and accurate physical examination; record obtained data properly in the format of the problem-oriented medical record; and communicate these date, both orally and in writing, to colleagues and others in a well-ordered and succinct manner. To complement this primary purpose, the program's faculty, and students develop a long-term relationship with preceptors who facilitate clinical learning experiences throughout the year. Student engage in the systematic and long-term study of disease processes, the natural history of disease, the delivery of effective care, preventive medicine, and patient education. These educational research efforts are supported by following patients in a longitudinal manner through both inpatient and ambulatory settings.

Requirements To include but not limited to
- Attendance at all scheduled activities (clinics, rounds, lectures, etc.)
- Completion of patient writeups as assigned
- Completion of online cases as assigned
- Case presentations as assigned
- Completion of required patient encounters (patient logs)
Evaluation Clinical Component - 70%. NBME Shelf Exam - 30%.
