Learn the importance of autopsy pathology in a large academic medical center in relation to clinical pathologic correlation, quality improvement and systems based practice. Experience the value of autopsy pathology in medical education and be able to advocate for the benefits of quality, efficient postmortem examination services to colleagues and clinicians. Understand the role of postmortem examination in the greater health care and legal system. Learn and be able to teach the principles of death certification. Attendance at weekly conferences and other teaching activities of the Department are integral features of this elective.
