Course Description
Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery focuses on the treatment of the diseases of the orbit, eyelids, and lacrimal drainage systems. Students will follow patients from the examination room to the operating room and through the recovery period. The goal of this elective is to expose students to Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the anatomy of the eyelids and orbit, and the surgical management of disease within this sub-specialty field. The student will work one-on-one with Dr. John Long, his Fellow and the Resident rotating though the service. There is an opportunity to participate in a number of ongoing clinical research projects. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based upon the attending physicians interview with the student and observations of the student's performance.
