Course Description The objective of this elective is to provide students with a mostly outpatient experience in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with various endocrine and metabolic disorders. Patients will be seen primarily in the clinic, and teaching will occur based on those patient encounters. In addition the student can attend any formal didactic sessions presented to fellows and residents. The student will interview and examine patients with pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, gonadal, and other metabolic disorders, including diabetes mellitus. The student will also be responsible for reading from textbooks and journals in areas pertinent to the problems that are under consideration. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based upon the attending physicians interactions and observations of the student during the course of the rotation.
