Course Description This is a 4-week course designed to provide intensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of skin disease for the student interested pursuing dermatology as a career. The objectives of the course are to (1) enhance pattern recognition of common dermatoses such as acneiform eruptions, papulosquamous disorders, drug eruptions, infectious disorders, and cutaneous neoplasms, (2) expand differential diagnosis for dermatologic conditions, and (3) develop management strategies including understanding when to involve other specialists.
Where To Report The Whitaker Clinic, 3rd Floor Dermatology Clinic (suite 3500) at 8am.
Requirements Daily attendance in assigned clinics. Facilities may include Whitaker Clinic, Cooper Green Hospital, and The Children's Hospital; Attendance in required educational conferences but not limited to weekly Grand Rounds and Kodachrome Slide Conference; Presentation on a dermatology topic of interest; Successful completion of Dermatology exam.
Evaluation Pass/Fail. Students are evaluated by faculty and residents on daily performance, demonstration of professionalism, evidence of background reading, and successfully passing the dermatology exam.
