Course Description
This advanced special topic builds on prior experience in global health and missionary medicine, providing students with an opportunity to take on greater leadership and mentorship roles during an immersive experience in an international, resource-limited setting. Students will deepen their understanding of global health systems and disparities while actively contributing to the organization and delivery of healthcare in community-based medical clinics. In addition to refining diagnostic and clinical skills under the supervision of US Board-certified physicians, students in this advanced course will assist in orienting and supporting first-time participants and will contribute to clinic planning and patient flow. The course emphasizes leadership development, interprofessional collaboration, and fostering cultural humility. It is offered in association/collaboration with a Christian faith-based organization, and while respect for the goals of the organization's work is expected, all students are welcome to participate in this experience.
