Course Description In this course, we will explore a variety of ways in which art and medicine interface. These will include reflections on human suffering, mortality, the life cycle, powers of observation, the physician experience as represented in art, as well as the holistic benefits of creativity and engaging with art. Being a well-rounded and compassionate physician requires more than clinical training, and this course will give students an introductory background in art forms which approach medicine in distinctive ways, including visual arts, literature, poetry, and film. The course will also include opportunities to create art in a playful and low stakes environment.
