Course Description
Offered to students planning to pursue a career in family medicine, this course provides an integrated approach to medical education by combining inpatient and outpatient pediatrics with inpatient and outpatient obstetrics. Students will gain hands-on experience in a variety of settings including inpatient wards with the family medicine team, outpatient pediatrics with the UAB Huntsville Department of Pediatrics, inpatient obstetrics with the OB hospitality team, and outpatient obstetrics in the family medicine clinic. This course emphasizes the importance of continuity of care, the depth and breadth of family medicine, and the interdisciplinary collaboration between specialties. This course will also allow senior medical students to better prepare for their upcoming family medicine residency training.

On first day, report to UAB HRMC at 8 am
Requirements
Aside from being present and actively participating in patient care throughout the rotation (including documentation in the electronic medical record), students will be required to attend family medicine didactics each week (Thursdays 12:15pm - 2:15pm).
Evaluation
Evaluation forms from pediatric, obstetrics, and FM OB faculty as well ass from family medicine residents.
