Course Description
Medical genetics is the fastest expanding branch of medicine due to the large number of discoveries made every day. Due to an overall increase in genetic testing, it is crucial for future clinicians to familiarize themselves with the scope of medical genetics. This broad course has been designed to introduce medical students to the field of medical genetics as a career as well as a clinical science. Students will learn about medical genetics practice, the science of gene variant classification, the diagnostic odyssey of certain families, especially with undiagnosed conditions, how discoveries in genetic science influence the management of clinical cases, and finally, the tools of future discoveries.
