Course Description The purpose of this course is to provide a broad foundation for understanding the science of firearm injury prevention and the latest research and evidence-based solutions. The course will also address firearm injury as a public health and health equity issue. The provider's ethical obligation to promote the well-being of their patients and to take appropriate actions to avert the harm caused by violence and abuse will provide the course foundation with a focus on injury prevention as part of routine primary care.

Requirements Students are expected to actively participate in class and to discuss problem-based cases. Sessions missed due to emergencies will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by the course director.
Evaluation Grading: Grading is Pass/Fail. Grades are based on:
Class attendance: students are allowed 1 absence (but should email course director)
Student completion and evaluation of a FIMP (Firearm Injury and Mortality Prevention) OSCE.
