Course Description This is an Elective in Inpatient Neurology during which the student gains more detailed knowledge and experience in diagnosis and management of neurology inpatients. Student will also gain skills in oral presentations and writing notes. Student will make rounds with the attending physician each morning. This will give well rounded exposure of adult neurology for the student. Student will work under the supervision of neurology attending on the General Neurology Service at Baptist South Hospital.
Where To Report Baptist South - Dr. Agarwal's Office 8:00 am
Requirements Attend rounds (8:00 am). Attend Neuro conference (Mondays & Thursdays I :00 pm).

Student will be required to read up on patients before rounds and actively participate in patient care.

Student will be required to read assigned reading materials and actively participate in discussions and Neuro conference.

Student will be required to write notes. and to prepare and present on 2-3 patients seen during rounds each day.

Student will receive feedback and is expected to make appropriate improvements each day.
Evaluation There is no formal examination. Grading is by faculty members who assess the student's basic knowledge, skills, and ability to relate medical information to faculty and to families. The student will be evaluated on a subjective basis based upon the attending physician's interview with the student and observations of the student's performance.
Notes Each morning will begin with rounds with the attending. After rounds, attending physician will lecture on neurological conditions seen during rounds. Attending physician will ask questions and assign reading materials pertinent to the topics discussed. In the afternoon, student will be assigned patients to round on. Student will enter notes and prepare oral presentations. which will be assessed and refined by the attending physician.

Student will actively participate in Neuro conference on Mondays and Thursdays.
