Course Description
The goal of this course is to give the medical student perspective on how to care for adult patients in an Internal Medicine clinic at the UAB Huntsville campus. This course will allow the student to practice taking histories and performing physical examinations on complex patients while also presenting to the clinical faculty and understanding how to develop an appropriate managerial plan. The student will also get a broad overview of caring for a healthy adult, including age-appropriate screening examinations, vaccination schedule, and advance care planning discussion. The student will also be able to see how a Chronic Care Management system can be used to help in treatments of patients with complext disease processes along with complex social barriers.

Requirements
Students will work with attending physicians and housestaff in the UAB Huntsville Internal Medicine Clinic while seeing patients (8:30 AM - 12 PM M-F; 1:30 PM - 5 PM M, T, TH). They will participate in ambulatory didactics on Thursday noon and present a brief topic presentation (topic to be determined based on topics seen in clinic).
Evaluation
Pass/Fail: based on attending physician evaluation of student performance in Internal Medicine Clinic
