Course Description The goal of the Dermatopathology rotation is to introduce students to diagnostic dermatopathology, which will be based off initial histology and clinical pathologic correlation. Also during this time projects will be started to help better understand the pathology process, and dermatopathology work flow. The student will gain an understanding of the dermatopathologist role in skin disease diagnosis and the communication of findings to fellow physicians. The student will be able to convey important information to the clinician by the end of the two weeks. Learning Objectives: 1. Describe the gross appearance of skin samples. 2. Discuss the process by which skin samples are prepared and examined for histological evaluation. 3. Describe the microscopic findings of skin samples. 4. Generate a differential diagnosis based on skin findings and discuss why certain diagnoses are more likely. 5. Understand the pathophysiology behind pathologic findings and clinical manifestations.
