Course Description
Students are exposed to the broad field of Internal Medicine in the both hospital setting and in outpatient practice. In the hospital, students work on a team with faculty, residents, fourth year students and pharmacy students while participating in direct patient care. Each student assists in admitting up to 2 patients per call shift and pre-round, present and write progress notes on 2-4 patients daily. Students also see patients in the UAB Huntsville Internal Medicine Clinic and Huntsville Free Clinic during their dedicated outpatient clinic week. Additionally, students participate in morning report and have a series of didactic workshops in the major specialty areas of internal medicine. Lastly, students are required to present a case they have encountered during their clerkship.

Evaluation
Clinical Component - 65%. NBME Shelf Exam - 35%.
