Course Description
Session 1) Round Table Discussion - we will do JAMA Series "Rationale Physical Exam". Session 2) Round Table Discussion, Diagnostic Test/Prediction Rule, using Evidence Based Physical Diagnosis Text Book by Steven McGee. Session 3) POCUS. Session 4) Cardiology Physical Examination. Session 5) Musculoskeletal Physical Examination. Session 6) Skin Physical Examination. Session 7) Neuro Physical Examination. Session 8) Pulmonary Physical Examination. Session 9) Gastrointestinal Physical Examination. Session 10) Head/Neck/General Physical Examination. Session 11) POCUS. Session 12) Pediatrics Physical Examination. Learning Objectives: To improve physical diagnosis skills. During this elective, the student will master or improve their physical exam skills of defined organ systems, will be profession in the interpretation of the physical diagnosis literature, and will learn fundamentals of medical decision making using the physical exam as a diagnostic test. A significant emphasis is placed on evidence based medicine principle. The focus is internal medicine; 1 session will be devoted for Pediatric physical exam.
Where To Report
Orientation will be held on the first day of co-enrolled course at 4pm at Huntsville Regional Medical Campus with the Course Director, Dr. Farrah Ibrahim. Participants will be notified.
Requirements
Relevant study materials will be emailed to the students prior to the course.
Evaluation
Pass/Fail. Consists of preceptor, topic review and self–accountability. Co-enrolled elective courses offer 2-weeks elective credit each. A student may receive a maximum of 4-weeks elective credit from co-enrolled courses. Students are allowed to be enrolled in only 1 co-enrolled course at a time.
