Course Description Pathology is the study of the causes and effects of disease. Forensic pathology is a subspecialty of pathology specifically concerned with determining how disease or injury contributed to the death of an individual. Much of the information gathered by forensic pathologists has important medicolegal and public health implications. As such, the forensic pathologist works closely with members of legal teams, law enforcement, clinicians, and public health officials in gathering critical evidence, formulating opinions about causes and manners of death, and generating public health data. Learning Objectives: Students should gain a better awareness of the medical specialty of pathology, with an emphasis on forensic pathology.
